1. What we collect

When you create an account we collect your email address, a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text), and a timestamp recording your acceptance of the Terms of Service. Signing up asks two things: the city or zip your radar is measured against, and the budget range you can start with. The rest of the profile is optional and collected later, only where you choose to give it: skills, risk appetite, work style, and things to avoid in Settings; a monthly income goal on the Money page; and your age at checkout, which we need to apply the under-18 guardian rule and use for nothing else. Accounts created earlier may also hold a weekly-hours answer from a previous version of the signup questions. If you track opportunities, we store whether you marked each one watching, pursuing, or not for you, along with your notes, your progress through its launch steps, and any outcome you log.

If you build a website with us, we store the business details you enter (name, city, phone, contact email) and the generated page. If someone requests a quote through one of those websites, we store the name, phone number, message, and requested service they submit, and pass them to the business owner so they can respond. If you are that visitor: the site you filled in is built on Scoutway, and the form tells you so above the button.

If you join our email list from any of the signup boxes on this site, we store your email address and a short tag recording which page you joined from, and nothing else. You do not need an account to join, and joining does not create one. That address is used for one thing: the weekly signal email. Every send carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and using it deletes your entry from the list outright rather than only flagging it.

2. How we use it

Your profile is used for exactly one thing: personalizing which opportunities you see and how playbooks are written for you. Your account email is used for login and essential account communication; if you also joined the email list, that use is described in section 1. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use third-party ad tracking.

3. AI processing

When playbook generation is powered by a third-party AI provider (Anthropic), the opportunity details and your profile fields (budget range, hours, city, skills, risk appetite, work style, exclusions) are sent to that provider to generate your playbook. Generated playbooks are cached by audience segment - not linked to your identity - to avoid regenerating the same content.

4. Cookies

We use a single essential session cookie to keep you logged in. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

5. Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from the Account page, which permanently removes your profile, email, tracked opportunities, any websites you built, and the quote requests submitted to them. If you have a paid plan, deleting your account cancels your subscription with Stripe as part of the same step — and if that cancellation does not go through, we stop the deletion and tell you, rather than leave a subscription billing an account you can no longer reach. You can also email us to request deletion or a copy of your data.

6. Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt, sessions use signed HTTP-only cookies, and login attempts are rate limited. No system is perfectly secure; use a unique password.

7. Children

Scoutway AI requires account holders to be at least 13 years old, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Users aged 13–17 may only use the service with a parent or guardian's agreement, and paid plans for users under 18 require a parent or guardian to approve and pay for the subscription. We record the timestamps of terms acceptance and guardian approval.

8. Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will post the update here with a new "last updated" date.
